Well, here we are – Episode 5 of the podcast, welcome!
Now, a lot has happened over the last few months since I last released an episode on the podcast. I wanted to share with you a couple of things that have been happening and what I have been up to over the last few months.
Firstly, I made the decision to ratchet down on the One Brick at a Time podcast and make it more specific around Lego® Serious Play® (LSP) and the community. I was finding that I had two camps: people who were interested in learning more about Lego® Serious Play® and not getting enough information about it; and those who wanted the people development side and not so much information about Lego® Serious Play®. The logical conclusion I came to is … have two podcasts! The One Brick at a Time podcast will continue and focus more specifically on Lego® Serious Play®, providing sharing from facilitators and experienced people working with this methodology, and, of course, the opportunity for those who are interested in learning more about LSP to do so.
This is exciting news for the Lego® Serious Play® community. I decided that due to the shift, I would introduce Patreon support for this podcast. As I’m sure you’re aware, pulling together a podcast or any kind of media takes a lot of time. Our guests contribute their time to share their learning with us, yet it also takes time to record, source, edit, publish and maintain the podcast itself. You can go to patreon.com/onebrickatatime to check out our Patreon page. For two dollars a month, less than a cup of coffee, you can support the ongoing development costs to produce the podcast. But it’s not just a donation in exchange for your patronage. For your kind donation to our cause, for every show that we publish after this one, there will be extra bonus content for you as a patron – specific insights and learning on Lego® Serious Play® from the facilitators and experts who come onto the show once or twice a month. You’ll receive bonus content on real practical skills and tools that you can apply in your own Lego® Serious Play® facilitation and ideas and concepts you can apply immediately in building and developing your teams.
Then I decided to support those listeners who were interested in hearing from speakers specifically on developing people and growing companies and so I founded the Show Me the Honey podcast, which is now live. This podcast is directly connected to my new baby – Apian Learning – which is an e-learning platform that aims to democratise online education. You can access the podcast at apianlearning.com, by clicking on ‘Podcast’ on the menu.
And to this episode… we are very blessed to have an interview with Michel Cloosterman, who was the facilitator who trained me through the Association of Master Trainers in 2016. We met in Karlsruhe, Germany, as I traipsed from Cape Town, South Africa to do my certification. From there, this amazing journey has started for me. Michel joins us to share how he got into Lego® Serious Play®, what it means to him and some examples of inspiring moments and wonderful practices that are particularly meaningful to him.
